- In 1927, Holly's great grandmother made a George Washington costume for her 6 year old son Tom (Holly's grandpa, shown in his costume at left).
All 12 of his children wore it for Halloween celebrations.
- Joan was able to salvage the ivory buttons from the vest; 80 years later, Holly's American Girl™ doll dress has one of the buttons closing the jacket.

"Joan saw my communion dress and for a present, she made this beautiful dress for Kit (my American Girl doll).
The button on the shrug was from my Grandpa's Halloween costume when he was six years old so Joan decided to put it on Kit's dress in honor of my Grandpa.
